Topic: Ambient Temperature Technology for Sustainable Biobanking of RNA for use in Expression Profiling

Presenter: Dr. Michael Barnes, Director, Cincinnati Biorepository, Concinnati Children's Hospital, Cincinnati, OH

Date/Time: Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 10:00 am Pacific Daylight Time

Description: The Cincinnati Biorepository was established to promote world class biomedical research in Cincinnati by ensuring availability of the highest quality biospecimens to meet researcher's needs. A major goal of the biorepository is to develop innovative methods for biobanking using biospecimen research to generate evidence-based methodologies. At Cincinnati Children's Hospital, access to high quality biospecimens put scientists at the forefront of research into the biology and pathogenesis of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and and other immunologic diseases of childhood. RNA expression profiling is an important tool for human disease research, and recent developments in microarray technology have increased the need for high quality purified RNA specimens. As Director of the Cincinnati Biorepository, Dr. Michael Barnes has investigated methods for increasing the stability of purified RNA during storage and transport. In this webinar, Dr. Barnes will present data demonstrating the use of GenVault's GenTegra(TM) RNA technology to stabilize RNA at up to 56C/132F, with no detectable effect on performance in gene expression analysis.
