energy savings calculator

Welcome to GenVault’s OnlineEnergy Savings Calculator

This interactive resource will allow you to compare the energy usage and resulting electricity costs between GenVault's hardware for storing samples at room temperature in GenPlates against freezers storing samples at -80°C in tubes.

Step 1. Simply input the total number of aliquots to store
To equalize the storage platforms we've assumed that 1 GenPlate element holds 1µg of DNA and 1 freezer tube also holds 1µg of DNA.

Step 2. Input your electricity rate.
If you aren't sure what this is, either use our default which is based on a Southern California industrial customer, or contact a facilities or administration representative to locate yours.'
