Frequently asked questions about GenVault's archive hardware
How many samples does each archive type hold?
- The GV100 series stores tens of thousands to millions of samples and the smallest
- GV100 has a full capacity of 56,000 GenPlates.
- The GV10 series stores tens of thousands of samples. The smallest GV10 system has a full capacity of 21,000 GenPlates.
- The Personal Archive holds 1,200 GenPlates.
- The Desktop Archive holds 100 GenPlates.
What are the upgrade paths available as my collection increases?
GenVault's Dynamic Archives are modular so as additional capacity is required, modules can be added to a current system. The Desktop Archive can be upgraded to the Personal Archive, which can ultimately be upgraded to the Dynamic Archive as the collection grows. GenConnect software can manage samples in all of these pieces of storage hardware.
How does the Dynamic Archive minimize cross-contamination?
The unique design of the GenPlate ensures that each element is sequestered from all other elements within or between plates. A single element can be removed without disturbing any other element within a plate or between plates, reducing the risk of contamination.
What is the mean time between failure for the vault automation?
- Shuttles: 5800 hours
- Conveyors: 5000 hours
- Arm: 52,000 hours
Is the archive system automated?
The Dynamic Archive (GV10 & GV100) is fully automated, complete with a robot that can retrieve up to 200 plates per hour. The Personal Archive is a manual system.
