Learn more about GenVault’s long-term biosample storage solutions
The Saguenay Biobank was recently established through a partnership between Genome Quebec and the Chicoutimi Hospital to provide a world class sample management service. The premiere customer for the Biobank is CARTaGENE, a population study dedicated to developing an infrastructure for population genomic research specifically with the aim of improving the health of the Quebec population. Furthermore, both institutions are members of an international consortium called the Public Population Project in Genomics (P3G) which is dedicated to promoting international collaboration in population genetics and harmonization of standards for knowledge, material transfer, and sharing of biosamples. To bring this concept to life, founders of the Saguenay Biobank brought together a combination of technologies to enable future scientific discoveries, streamline workflows, and standardize biosample management. By adopting GenVault’s Dynamic Archive automated biosample storage and management system and the GenPlate platform for storing blood samples, the Biobank will be able to store up to 82 million aliquots of biosamples at the primary storage facility which is 7500 square feet. The Saguenay Group has set-up redundant, back-up systems as well. Read the Canadian Biobank press releases here.
