Dry State Ambient Temperature Storage and Transport of DNA
![]() |
GenTegra™ DNA is a water-soluble, inert chemical matrix designed for dry-state, ambient temperature storage of purified DNA. GenTegra™ preserves DNA integrity by protecting samples from hydrolysis and oxidation and imparts thermal stability at temperatures ranging from -80°C to 76°C /169°F, enabling ambient temperature storage and transport of DNA.

Application and Analysis Results
Purified DNA stored in GenTegra upon rehydration can be applied directly to the most stringent molecular applications with great ease and simplicity. There is no post-storage purification or sample processing required. One can be assured of confidence in their analysis results by GenTegra’s excellent DNA recovery rate of close to 100%. The GenTegra™ medium is inert and will not interfere in post storage application assays such as PCR, genotyping, and spectrophotometric quantitation. This makes it very easy for GenTegra™ to be integrated in existing equipment, methods, and protocols for analysis, quantitation, and purity determination. Validation studies indicated that GenTegra integrity and recovery is comparative to samples analyzed from cryopreserved samples.
DNA Recovered from GenTegra™ does not inhibit downstream reactions

Storage of DNA at 76°C for 6 months is equivalent to 16 years of storage at 25°C. Human genomic DNA (250ng) was stored in the dry state for 6 months at 25°C - 76°C in the presence of GenTegra™, revealing high molecular weight DNA with no evidence of degradation. Conversely, DNA stored with no protection for just 30 days at the same temperatures exhibited extensive degradation. |
DNA Recovered from GenTegra™ does not inhibit downstream reactions

The GenTegra matrix does not inhibit QPCR. No inhibition was observed even when 26% of the reaction was made up of DNA recovered from GenTegra. Ct values of control DNA stored at -20°C and 50ng samples stored for two weeks at 76°C in the presence of GenTegra™ matrix are identical (green box). 50ng samples stored at 76°C without GenTegra™ exhibit increased Ct values (blue box).

DNA recovered from GenTegra has been validated for use in the most demanding applications, including genotyping, DNA sequencing, HLA typing and whole genome amplification. Here, DNA stored in GenTegra™ was subjected to genotyping on the Illumina and Affymetrix 6.0 platforms. Results are identical for controls stored at -20°C and DNA stored in GenTegra™ at 25°C.
