Features of the GenPlate
- A multi-well container for room temperature storage of blood, DNA, and clones. Each GenPlate meets the SBS standards and has the following dimensions: 5.030’ length x 3.365” width x 0.397” height (half the height of a typical 384 multi-well plate)
- There are 384 wells per GenPlate. Each well is equivalent to an experiment-sized aliquot
- Each well contains a 6mm disc of FTA paper
- Each disc in the well will hold 10 ml of blood, DNA, or crude bacterial suspension (clones)
- Each plate is sealed using a foil top-seal and clear plastic bottom-seal
- GenPlates are formatted into “Regions (R)”:
1R = 384 aliquots of a single biosample per plate
3R = 3 unique samples/plate; 96 aliquots/sample
6R = 6 unique samples/plate; 40 aliquots/sample
12R = 12 unique samples/plate; 16 aliquots/sample
24R = 24 unique samples/plate; 4 aliquots/sample - GenPlates are manufactured in two varieties:
- (1) GenPlates for whole blood & clones
- (2) GenPlates for purified gDNA & pDNA
- Each plate contains a 14-digit barcode which specifies plate type, region configuration, GenCode, and unique plate number
