GenVault is developing innovative room temperature, dry-state storage matrices to preserve proteins and biomarkers for storage and transport

GenVault’s current product focus is in the management of nucleic acid samples.  However, given that proteins are the workhorses of the cell, a majority of diagnostic tests are focused on protein analysis.  In addition, the burgeoning area of proteomic research suggests that the need for advances in the storage, transportation and workflow simplification of these molecules is essential.

In response to this need, GenVault is expanding its product development to include the dry-state storage of proteins and biomarkers.  This development is occurring on a chemically inert, engineered elastomeric sponge, as a matrix to support dry state acquisition of whole serum or whole blood at room temperature.  This product allows the sample to be recovered in its original volume, avoiding dilution of the serum, a critical factor for analytic applications.

GenVault is currently working with a number of laboratories to determine viability of various biomarkers after storage and transport in this Elastomeric Matrix.  We envision that after systematic validation with various diagnostic biomarkers, this product will have a significant impact on simplifying serum collection, storage, shipping and recovery in both clinical and research markets.
